9th month check up!

Today we had our 9th month check up. We have a new doctor because our insurance plan changed. It was tough to leave our doctor and start again. We really liked her. The new doctor seems also good. So let's see how it goes! A fun fact about her (new doctor) is that she is Jamaican! Accent is soooo cool!

Ok. Here are the stats for the back of the 'beisbol' card ;)

Weight : 20 lbs 2 oz
Height : 28 1/4 inches
Head circumference : 45 inches
67% percentile to which the doctor said she was PERFECT!

But we already knew that!

We also just completed the "introducing solids" guidelines we were following so the flood gates have opened! Dr. Audrey Reid (new one) wants us to start her on meats! For more iron and protein in her diet. Meats!!!! Oh my!!

She got 3 shots and my poor baby cried in pain and horror. I don't think I have seen her cry like this. Or I forgot. Ughhh.

She also came down with a cold last night. So you would think she is a miserable baby today BUT she isn't! After a good 2 hour nap she has been playing up a storm with me!

The picture faces says: "I'm not so sure about this rice cereal deal. Yes, peaces and mango makes it better, but this stuff still not rocking my boat... Didn't the doctor said meat?"

9th month letter

Oh monkey!!! How you have grown!
You are a little person now! ... Do I say this in every letter!?  Its just that more and more your super sweet and happy personality shines thru and we just can't get enough of you!  ... Nos tienes asfixiados y de cabeza!

nine months in the making and nine months making us parents!

New this month is your first gorgeous little birthmark on you lower back, left side ... mi gordita tiene un lunarcito!

You are in full swing with your military style crawl. You can move fast!  And you love to go to the edge of the rug and lift it, for some reason. Also you like to venture out of the living room "rug play area" and explore all the screw holes dad used to bolt the temporary plywood flooring.  To which your dad said "just like her father".

And just a few days ago you walked across a restaurant booth we were sharing with Rachel and Randy. You went from your dad to me while holding on to the table and walking on the seat.  We both were pretty impressed!

You are playing more interactively now. Your dad has come up with a game where you say "ahhhhhhhs" loudly onto a cup.  You take turns with us to "yell in a cup"!  We also take turns to bang rhythmically the stacking cups together!  Thanks to aunty Robyn for the awesome stacking cups!

You can wave!  My favorite is how we wave good night to the glow in the dark moon and stars in your room, after I turn off the lights, as part of your bedtime routine.  Although, your wave is more like a "come over" but we know what you mean!

too bad for low light! look at the happy face though!

You used to dislike, then you were impartial to the bath. But now that you have been upgraded to the full tub, you just love to splash the water and play with your toys.  Its so cute!  I wish we could leave you there longer but your hands and feet turn to prunes pretty fast!

And speaking of prunes!

Yup, this is the next to last of the doctor's introducing solid list.  Soon you will be able to eat most anything we eat!

But don't worry as your dad, specially, has enjoyed giving you tastes of our foods.  But it was scary one night that your face turned red after tasting tahini sauce for the second time.  Phew! That set us straight, a bit.

Your seem to be getting better at falling asleep at night.  But it's still a bit of a struggle.  For a week or so your bed time was becoming later and later.  It kind of got to me after it was passed 10:30 pm a few nights in a row.  So I gave you a big hug and explained to you what I was about to do: I set you down on your crib and allowed you to cry yourself to sleep.  It took 10 min of crying.  It was the hardest thing I've done yet.  Next days you outsmarted me by falling asleep on the bottle fast! So all that effort was most likely wasted. But we are back on the horse and trying to set you down drowsy but awake (some times over and over again) until you finally give in to your sweet dreams.  A good thing in all this is that because of a desperate post on facebook about that episode, I got to talk with my cousin Nuni, Maritza Read, for the first time in ages! It was nice hearing from her and now I'm putting to the test her words of wisdom.

Your dad left for a week on work to Shanghai, he was very cute with his teary eyes as he had to part from you. He is afraid you won't remember him so he asked me to show you a picture of him every day.

I think you will miss him every morning when you wake up as dah-dah makes it very fun when he picks you up and brings you flying in the air to nurse with me in bed.  Its a cute little routine we have developed. And to see you clapping at the first sight of each of us is a delight!

happy valentine's day!

Hanging toys

We are now venturing into hanging toys that vibrate back when you pull them. But there is still nothing she likes best than playing and eating the fabric labels/tags of the toys! Go figure!

Jeff dressed her this morning. The shirt is backwards, but it works! ;)
