Merry Xmas!

What an amazing way to think about this holiday now. Even though she is still not aware of what it is. To us it brings so much joy to think of how our lives have changed and will continue to change guided by our little joy.

She gave us an even better gift: slept 12 hours straight!

We got her some "winter" gear for her mountain trip to Sequoias.

A piggy hat! With a curly tail in the back! Some booties and mittens.

Eso si, que falta me hicieron anoche! El lechonsito de mami!!! Ay dios! Pero estoy feliz con mi gorda con gorrito de cerdita a quien hoy le canto: lechon asao' amarillo y colorao'

Besos!!

6th to 7th month letter

Dear Laurel,

Every morning when you wake up with a happy baby face and give us that big gum smile we forget about any tough times you have ever given us the past 6 months and thru my pregnancy!

fell asleep in daddy's arms

We love walking into your room together and singing your good morning song. The cutest moment is when your butt moves up and down in excitement for us. We then pick you up and you greet your owls and birds good morning with so much joy!

You are the biggest joy of our lives!

We are so not ready for you, and that's not your fault. But we are so thrilled to have you guide us thru the next steps that I know we will enjoy it none the less.

You are still working on those 2 lower teeth and some days it bothers you some. But so far it really hasn't become a show stopper.

You seem to have one cold onto the next from your day care buddies. I hope you give them some back too!

Sleep is (and I hope I don't jinx myself on this one! Asi que safa chivo!) established at nights. You go to sleep by 8:30-9:15 pm and up at 6-6:45 am.  I was able to change your 5 am wake up time in just a few mornings in mid November. Thank you for being so easy!

the whole family went on a nice stroll

....to get her to nap

Now we are working on your naps. As you are a terrible cat-napper. But at day care you have done a few 2-3 hour mid day naps recently.

You are starting to pay attention to our food. But specially my water bottle. Looks like you see it as a next step to your bottle.

I was waiting for you to be able to sit on your own so that you could focus on the act of learning to eat something other than a bottle. And its not like you can do it alone, but when propped you stay for a good while and even show off some tricks!

Our thanksgiving holiday treat for you was your first taste of rice cereal!  I don't think you like it much. The face you gave me had very clear message: "what are you doing to me now?"

say ahhhhhh

We spent thanksgiving at our good friends Joanna and Bianca, along with Leigh and Corin and a few of their friends and Bianca's parents. Bianca cooked an amazing meal and everyone added to it. It was a great gathering of friends with delicious food and fun conversations.  Sorry we couldn't share it with your Kleeger family. Hopefully things will work out next time around.

You have moved up from the play mat to your "office" and its so cute to see how busy you get trying to push all the buttons an pull on things.

You are ever more engaging and talking. Your jabber is becoming quite a joy to talk to and we love how you like to make raspberries with your lips, even if it means your face ends up totally wet from saliva!

yeee-ah!

You love it when your dad plays "ninja" with you and you guys sneak up a kick to an unexpected friend near by.

Your grandparents have all become more computer savvy all because of you! Its amazing to hear how much more they are all doing in order to stay informed of your cute doings. And they can't get enough of your daily pictures. I'm in serious trouble for spoiling not just you but them too!

Hand picked!

This little cherry baby is lucky we got 75+ F temps today so she got to wear this cute outfit!

She sure looked cute at Owen's 3rd bday party.

She also enjoyed a lot some "healthy junk food" with 4 TJ's veggie sticks!

daddy+bottle = love

And lots of it! She drank 8 oz!

That's 2 more than the 6 oz we just recently started giving her.

wow!

chunky monkey!

Square cheeks!

Today was a HUGE food day!

She drank 6 oz bottles, up from 5 oz. and up from barely 3 oz just a couple of moths ago!

Today, one of the bottles was her first formula bottle!

And she ate her first full ration of 2 tablespoons of rice cereal!   With us she ate about 1/2 tbsp this past weekend. That was the record.

Sadly we weren't there to see it. Its the cost of being working parents. I'm sure there will be many other moments we will miss out on. But I'm sure we will enjoy our moments together even more.

This weekend she'll graduate to oatmeal cereal. We get to do that!

And I get to give myself a pat in the back for achieving this amazing run of 7 months of exclusively breast feeding our amazing baby.  But also I now get to give myself a brake as I now I'm not the only source of food for the chunky monkey!

what's this? a zipper?

In all honesty I love breast feeding her. I love that I know she is getting the best source of food she can at this point from my effort. I do not however enjoy pumping 5 times a day while juggling work, house, baby, cat, super awesome Jeff and myself.  I do enjoy the brake I get when I pump to catch up on emails, post pictures for the grandparents, and read about Laurel's sleep needs and how to help her.  But stressing that I may not have enough milk for tomorrow and actually feeding her on the light end lately was just too much. For all of us.

Now I can nurse or express breast milk without stress and she will be able to grow and gain weight with the help of formula and in a few weeks is veggies and fruits!

So! New leaf has been turned! Chunky monkey is getting big and soon even bigger!!!

happy chunky monkey!

Amarilla pollita!

I was having some fun with my little chick this monday!

Little lady from Pasadena

Yesterday we stroll around Pasadena.

Every time we passed a restaurant the people sitting by the windows will all go gah gah and smile at us.

Jeff had her on his shoulder for about an hour. At first she was so engaged and excited about the new world around her. Later she was snoring with her dads thumb firmly gripped!

Everyone's favorite outfit!

People go crazy when they see her with this outfit Grandma Lynn got her.

Coworkers, waitresses, supermarket attendants... and specially day care's Cherie, who loves her very much, will not let a day pass without changing her to this outfit when I bring it as a change. She says it reminds her of one of her babies (she has 6!). Rachel and Lydia are 2 of her daughter that help at the day care and have all confessed how Laurel is their favorite... I'm sure they say that to all the parents! ;)
